My research

Water is not only a prerequisite for life, but also an important link between many important environmental issues. Future changes in the water cycle and how water is used may strongly affect both the environment and human society in many parts of the world. In my research so far, I have primarily studied water in the Arctic. The Arctic environment is changing more rapidly than in many other places, with important consequences both for the local environment and infrastructure, but also for the global climate system.

To observe, assess and plan for adaptation to these changes, relevant observation data and modeling results are critical. The focus of my research has therefore been to assess how well present observation systems and climate model data for Arctic drainage basins serve the needs of researchers, water managers and policymakers. The aim has been to contribute to a development of water observation systems and accessibility to water data.
