Barbara
Hobson holds a chair in Sociology with a specialization in
comparative gender studies. Her general research area is in
political sociology, including the subfields of Citizenship and Welfare
Regimes; Social Movements; Recognition and Diversity. She is a
coordinator and partner in several international research projects. For
the past five years,she has been researcher leader in FP6 Nework of
Excellence: Applying Sen's Capabilities and agency framework to
gender,
work and welfare states. Her other research project area invovles
projects that extend further her research on
gender, diversity and citizenship. She is a founding editor and a
current editor of Social Politics: International Studies of
Gender, State and Society, an Oxford University Press journal ranked in
the ISI (1.58)
