Professor och innehavare av lärostolen i praktisk filosofi vid Uppsala universitet.

Född 1964. Jag doktorerade i Stockholm 1993 men tillbringade en del av forskarutbildningen vid Cornell University. Jag befordrades till professor i praktisk filosofi i Stockholm 2003, där jag även varit verksam som forskarassistent, lektor och docent. Jag har dessutom varit gästforskare vid Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University (2000), vikarierande professor vid Göteborgs universitet (2002-2003), associate professor vid University of Auckland, New Zealand (2005-2007) samt gästforskare vid The Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences (2008.8-2008.12).

Jag är Honorary Research Fellow vid filosofiinstitutionen i Auckland samt ledamot av Kungl. Humanistiska Vetenskaps-Samfundet i Uppsala. Jag är dessutom grundare av Tidskrift för politisk filosofi och var dess redaktör mellan 1997 och 2008. Jag ledde forskningsprojektet Gränslös demokrati (Democracy Unbound) mellan 2004 och 2008, och var ledamot i Karolinska institutets etikråd mellan 2005 och 2009. Jag är för närvarande prefekt för Filosofiska institutionen i Uppsala.
