Hua - setting UMTS/HSDPA/GPRS/EDGE modes for Huawei E220 on Mac OS X
Hua allows you to change the default network type to use in the E220. This way you can avoid ending up on the slow, packet dropping, packet duplication, delay introducing GPRS networks. In Sweden, some GPRS networks will happy give you 30 seconds in ICMP ping times while the HSDPA network on the same place give you 100ms ping times.
The application assumes you have installed Huawei drivers, ie have a /dev/tty.HUAWEIMobile-Modem when the USB dongle is inserted. Since the Hua needs to talk to the modem you can be connected at the same time as you change the settings.
Then the led is blinking blue (not connected) or steady blue (connectd), you are using UMTS. If its green your are using GPRS. The device does green double blinks as parts of the startup sequence after about 10s-2min it should connected just fine.
