Martin JakobssonProfessor in Marine Geology and Geophysics e-mail: martin.jakobsson@geo.su.se After completing a Ph.D. in 2000 at the Department of Geology and
Geochemistry, Stockholm University, I joined the Center for Coastal
and Ocean Mapping at the University of New Hampshire, USA. The thesis
was titled "Mapping the Arctic Ocean: Bathymetry and Pleistocene
Paleoceanography". My current research interests are the Arctic
Ocean paleoceanography and glacial history, the West Antarctic Ice
Sheet, glacial landforms, development of Digital Bathymetric Models
(DBMs) from a mixture of data sources, and the use of GIS and 3D-visualization
for handling and analyzing marine geological/geophysical data. In
April of 2004, I returned to Stockholm for an Associate Professor
position at the Department of Geology and Geochemistry. From November
2004, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded me five years
to devote full time to my research. In September 2009 I was promoted
to full Professor in Marine Geology and Geophysics at Stockholm University. |
